Ex-Soundcity presenter in physical assault by girl friend's thugs

Aspiring singer and presenter of Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa reality show, Deji Falope, is still nursing a swollen eye, excruciatingly painful ribs and a deep-seated paranoia. Reason; he was beaten to a pulp days back by thugs alleged to have been set after him by his half-caste girlfriend of almost two years. According to sources, the thugs visited the VJ and former Soundcity presenter’s Opebi, Lagos home around 7am, and quickly settled down to business, raining kicks and blows on his fragile body while he was close-marked by his assailants, foreclosing any chance of escape until they were done with their brief. As the story goes, some minutes after the thugs left, and while still reeling from the shock and pains, an undisguised police jeep came and whisked the fast-speaking presenter away, thus throwing family and friends into confusion as to his whereabouts. “Several checks at the neighbourhood police stations did not yield any result and his phones were switched off. So we could not reach him. It was much later in the day that we learnt that he was at Area F,” says a close friend of Falope.

The thin thread that bound the showbiz personality and his former love, who reportedly works at a Lagos-based animation and management company, snapped irrevocably when he discovered her sordid part. E-Punch source discloses that the half-Phillipino, half Nigerian lady actually has a child from a previous relationship; a child she had introduced to Falope as his niece and whom he treats as such. Falope’s friend says further, “Deji also found out that she had been scamming him all along while also taking his belongings like flat screen television, Galaxy Tab and so many other things in the course of their relationship.” Falope’s only offence was his discovery that he was about being scammed by a woman he had planned to marry last May but decided to tarry when he began to see beyond his nose.

What has now worsened the case, E-Punch gathers, is that threat letters are being sent to Digideep, as Falope is also known in showbiz circles, asking him to keep what he knows about the lady to himself or lose his life. Falope refused to speak with E-Punch on the issue.

Attempts to reach the lady were unsuccessful as at press time yesterday.

MME HYPE: NSA’s Pun Star

Coming from Non-Cence Studio Academy crew is OFIAVWE Wilson Kevwe, aka Pun Star.

Born and bred in Lagos State, but undergoing tutelage at the prestigious University of Benin where he studies Mass Communication, Pun Star has been able to blend school work with music, an art which has earned him collaborations with artistes like J.Kool, Dino, Wyfi and also with Tari T and K-Shadow who are both producers.

Irrespective of some challenges often faced by growing artistes, Pun Star has graced many events as well as made appearance at One Mic competition that was held at Koko Lounge and school gigs where he had the crowd wowed with his flow.

Being involved in musical genre that spans from rap, hip-hop, r & b, dancehall, rock, pop to reggae, I’ll say that something massive is coming because this fella’s pride lies not just on panache, but also on content; a gift you will no doubt reckon with when you listen to joints like “ma jo noni” or “never say hi” where he flaunts his lyrical prowess.

Gospel dance hall vocalist, UK.A stomps the yard

Taking gospel music to a new dimension in Nigeria is this young, but talented artiste, Uche Kevin Amugo aka UK.A, a drummer cum gospel vocalist.

Having started music at an early age, UK.A never gave up at being the best, as his career has seen him play for 2shotz, Tosin Martins, Style Plus, Kelly Handsome, Djinee, M.I and for corporate bodies like Guinness during their 250 years celebration which brought Sean Paul to Nigeria and Star in 2010's Mega Jamz which hosted international act, R. Kelly.

As a singer however, UK.A's dance hall approach to gospel music in Nigeria is quite unique when compared to others, and with his promo currently enjoying air plays in radio stations and in homes, an album release has been scheduled for next month so you might want to keep tabs on him. *winks*

"I want to be remembered for love, togetherness and acceptance" - Harrysong

His name is Harrison Tare Okiri and unlike most talented artistes in Nigeria, Harrysong (as he is fondly called) is no exception to those who started music at an early age, as he gives us an insight on who he is and his kind of music…enjoy!

MME: what kind of music do you do?

Harrysong: I call it infusion. It's a combination of r n b, jazz notes and r n b dance.

MME: Does anyone in particular influence your talent?

Harrysong: Yeah! My late mum and Tuface.

MME: Did it spur you to want a career in music?

Harrysong: Of course. It all started as a dream, where I saw myself in limelight and to the glory of God, it is where I have found myself today. Besides, not like my immediate success is all up in my head, I am still hopeful for the best.

MME: You released your hit single, ‘jonzing world’ after which the 13 track album titled ‘testify’ followed suit in April 2011 under Question Mark Entertainment; how were these works perceived?

Harrysong: A lot of people don’t know this, but before jonzing world, there was “yekelem”. Jonzing world was just my style. However, people criticized the song, but it’s going places now because they love it.

MME: You had your album release gig in Lagos after which you took the launch to your hometown in Warri, Delta State; Why Warri?

If you like Loopy Boiz, then you gonna love Ruby

Coming from the stable of Loopy Records is Ruby, a unique talent under the management of Loopy Music, a dynamic team that is made up of MI, Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, Leony, Lindsey and Eve.

However, she just dropped a unique single titled "okay" under the Record label and her slow but soft approach to romance doesn't sound bad after all if you ask me. Quite a good way of making an announcement I would say.

Way to go Loopy!

D'banj's "oliver twist" gets ban over Omotola Jalade's buttocks

“The truth is that the person that banned this song will hear this song till he is sick of it. He will hear it at almost every party he goes to. He will hear it from the cars that will drive pass him.

He will hum the melody even in his sleep. He’ll probably record his own version of the Oliver video sef lol. He is doing his job so let’s allow him exercise his power. It’s allowed. May God bless him and his hustle? No long thing”.

Those were the reaction of Ruggedman after he learnt that the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) had pulled the plug on D'banj's new single, "oliver twist".

Reacting on the order by the Commission not to air the song on radio nor television due to its "lewd lyrics" as they claim, the C.E.O of Mo'Hits, Don Jazzy went on to share his thought on twitter by saying: "Tweeps pls worry not about the banning of Oliver o. e dey happen. we re kinda used to it now. Ijebu garri no dey do advert but e dey sell".

However, the Nollywood diva whose "tool" was said to have been emphasized on the song is yet to make a statement, but let's keep our fingers crossed and hope the Commission got their judgment right!
