RECOGNISE - CoCo Ice

CoCo Ice, real name Serah Mojisola Sowole born on September 30 is the first of three children rocking a 1.70 meters tall frame brown eyes and black hair - loves music passionately.
 
Rapping was a hobby for her at the beginning but then it became more than just a hobby after she started miming to tracks by popular international acts like Mase, P. Diddy, Heavy D, Missy Elliot, Erick Sermon and Lil Kim after-which she fell in love with Hip hop.

CoCo Ice (formely known as Mo Blaq) embarked on her journey to fame and success in 2006 when she hooked up with Points Beat Studio owned by Ojb Jezreel where Jo'kaynie produced her first single Get Nutty ft May D. She learned more about music and in that time, she did a lot of freelance recording with producers and artistes such as Jo'kaynie, Ojb Jezreel, Xtac, Black Solo, Freestyle amongst many others.

In 2009 she met Dagrin and with his assistance, Coco Ice was able to hone her Yoruba rapping skills, thereby allowing her to express her lyrics in a way she feels comfortable and at the same time embracing her much loved culture. Having performed on stage with the likes of Mode 9, Sage, Minjin and the late Dagrin, I can't help but agree more that she has indeed come a long way.
 
CoCo Ice has done collaborations with many underground and known artiste and currently has a new song titled Hypnotized ft Dr Jazz produced by K.Solo which is rocking the air waves.

Those were the response of South African TV presenter, Dineo Moeketsi and r n b sensation, Banky W after being notified as hosts for this year’s edition of Music Video Awards (MVA) by Channel O. However, the South African O-Access presenter and multi award-winning Nigerian artiste are set to bring glamour and huge amounts of swagger to the event which shall be broadcast LIVE from the Sandton Convention Center come Friday the 11th of November, 2011.

Onyeka Onwenu loses mum

It was a sad weekend for the Onwenu family, as their mother of 92 was reportedly lost to the cold hands of death early Saturday morning.

However, we are yet to hear/read from "Her Uniqueness" - Onyeka Onwenu concerning burial arrangements, but on behalf of Many Men Entertainment, please accept our condolence, as we pray she rests with the Lord...amen!

Congratulations Denrele for making Channel O VJ list

A lot of people were both surprised and confused when they spotted eccentric TV star, Denrele Edun with a Channel O microphone at the launch of Ice Prince’s ELI. Many thought it was probably another stunt, while others began to add one and two together. It has finally be confirmed. The former Soundcity Red Carper delight is now with the South Africa based music station.

In a  bid to deepen its commitment to the continent the music channel has launched Channel O Africa, which is pioneering a new campaign saddled on new VJs recruited across Africa. They are Denrele Edun from Nigeria; Joey Muthengi (Kenya), Flavia Tumusiime (Uganda), Stefen ‘J.Town’ Menson (Ghana), Jokate Mwegelo (Tanzania) and the roving VJ from South Africa, Maya Wegerif.

“Each one of these VJ’s is awesome in their own right. Not only do they have a fundamental love for their country and music from their countries too, they also have a love for what is happening around them and can see African Urban music in the global space which is exactly what Channel O Africa is about. They are passionate, hardworking individuals and as a team, they will take Channel O Africa to new levels,” says Leslie ‘Lee’ Kasumba, Channel O’s Africa Manager.

Baba Suwe to be detained for 2 more weeks

Yesterday, the Nigerian Federal High Court granted the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA permission to further detain ace Yoruba comedian, Baba Suwe for yet another 15 days after what they described as more evidence was discovered in a CT scan which was conducted at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) by Dr. Subhash Vijayvargiya.

However, it was gathered that Justice Okechukwu Okeke who presided over the case passed the judgment after a report by the consultant radiologist confirmed that Baba Suwe still has a large amount of the ingested drugs in him.

Nevertheless, the intelligience officer for the Agency, Femi J. Osifuye disclosed further that Baba Suwe has refused to eat something so as to facilitate excretion, claiming that he eats only once in 3 days.

Finally, Dayo Adeneye aka D1 of Primetime Entertainment has come out to debunk the "rumor" going around town regarding a split between him and his buddy, Keke Ogungbe. Picture they say tell a thousand words so here's a status update from the entertainment mogul about 2 days ago.

Keke & D1; where & how it all went wrong

For those who don't know or haven't heard, the news making the rounds now is that Kenny 'Keke' Ogungbe and his media partner of over a decade, Dayo 'D1' Adeneye have parted ways (thanks to Idowu 'ID' Ogungbe).

Everything started when a multi-millions naira deal between MTN and Primetime Entertainment expired and attempts by both parties to renew it failed due to lack of benefits as sighted by D1 for his company. It was gathered that ID went behind to discuss with his older brother, Keke whose stakes are higher than D1's to negotiate the deal for Kennis Music which now sailed through without the consultation of his media partner, D1.

More so, it was gathered that upon conclusion of the deal, millions of naira was remitted into the account of Kennis Music followed by a branded bus for the label's (Kennis Music) artistes as well as an endorsement for them to perform at the 10th year anniversary event of MTN.

"Nothing is hidden under the sun" they say, as ID walked in on Keke to ask questions about the new development in a company he helped build, only to be disappointed at his partner's response, as he confessed to have been convinced to take the deal by younger brother, ID Ogungbe.

However, we are in high expectation of a press release or something by either party to debunk the story, as D1 has been largely rumored to have gone solo irrespective of Keke's response to fans and listeners on their regular simulcast on Raypower FM as well as on Primetime show powered by Kennis Music .

Laff 4 Christ's sake; an evening of gospel rhythms & jokes with Julius Agwu

One of Naija's finest, Julius Da Genius Agwu is back again with a comedy show tagged "Laff 4 Christ Sake", an event which is going to be packed with acts like Basketmouth, Bovi, Gordons, Buchi, Dan D’Humorous, Senator and Funny Bone for comedy while gospel rythms are going to be delivered by KSB, Frank Edwards, Eben, Onos and Tim Godfrey and of course, DJ Gosporella on the wheels of steel.

Illbliss drops new single

Ace rap artiste, Illbliss is back y'll and this time, he's making a loud entry with a new single titled anam achu from an anticipated album called Oga Boss which is likely to hit the market come December this year.

Known for his collaboration with Terry G on the dance track aiye po gan and quite a statement on the theme song for the headies as well as other projects, this new single is not so far from his style of music, as he introduces the imprint of Phyno, an upcoming producer who did the chorus on the song which i must say has quite a lot of hard bars on it.

Baba Suwe in NDLEA net over drug ingestion

Popular comic/Yoruba actor, Alhaji King Babatunde Ayinla Nurudeen Olasunkanmi Omidina, also known as Baba Suwe was last night apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos as he was about to board a flight heading for Paris, France.

It was gathered that he was nabbed after the scanning machine alerted officials who found suspected substances i.e drugs in his stomach. He is currently under observation at the airport office of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA pending when he starts excreting the swallowed substances.

More so, it was gathered that he was on his way to France to host the naming ceremony of a staff working with Air France who also has been picked up by the Force.

Until his arrest, Baba Suwe remains a well-known brand in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry, but with a story like this, one can't help but wonder what will be left of his career afterwards.

Mo'Chedda's nude pix to Eldee; what were they thinking?!

It has been a sordid event in the lives of 2 of our very best, as a nude picture of Knighthouse's Mo’Cheddah made the rounds over the internet last week especially via Twitter.

Everything went awry when the picture above which was intended to be a direct message from Mo'Cheddah to Eldee found its way to her public profile and having spotted the mishap, she was quick to respond via her tweet which reads:

“Pls neva believe what you see, someone just sent me that picture. pls tweeps my account has been hacked. Disregard my tweets. I’m working on securing my account. And of coz, that’s not me,” - Mo'Cheddah.

More so, Eldee who tried playing superman on the issue responded thus:

“@Mocheddah, if people here can see it (the nude picture) just say someone posted it to you in the hotel.” - Eldee.

Nevertheless, both are off twitter at the moment, as attempts on refuting the drama seems to be dropping on deaf ears (trust Naija na).

Few hours ago, Wizkid, the holla at your boy crooner was bestowed with the prestigious award for Best African Act at the 2011 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards held in Glasgow, Scotland.

He overcame the likes of D'banj (#mimicking Jenifa: yels D'banj os courfe), Seun Kuti,
Fatoumata Diawara, Owiny Sigoma Band, Cheikh Lo, Vieux Farka Toure,  Liquideep, Smod, and Spoek Mathambo who were also nominated to clinch the award.

Quite unfortunate he couldn't attend the event because of commitment to a new project, but upon being informed, he tweeted thus: '#TEAMWIZKID we did it!!..now let's get the EMA!!!!…God bless every1 dat voted!!!…wow!!!’
